We live with people whose validity is measured in stoic silences, thunder and lightning. We measure men by how devoid of affection, playfulness, intimacy and vulnerability they can muster to be – iSoka lam’. We teach children to become men through humiliation, disaffection as well as physical, emotional and psychological abuse.

Yet we are capable of being in the employ of a feminist, abolitionist future that is driven by the demands of radical softness and radical love. We are able, here and now, in this space and in this time, to conjure masculine practice that surrenders to radical love.
