TRADITIONAL FLOATING VEGETABLE GARDEN

Pirojpur, Bangladesh I 2020
"Farmers grow their crops on long, narrow vegetable gardens that float on a river. Each strip of land is between 200 and 300 feet long, and farmers grow up to 300 vegetables there, using boats to navigate the channels between them. The gardens rise and fall with the swelling waters of nearby rivers, limiting the time when crops can be grown and making the land a precious commodity for local residents. The photo shows part of the 400-acre area in Pirojpur, Bangladesh, where an extraordinary variety of vegetables grow, including beans, beets, squash, okra, eggplant, cucumbers, red amaranths, pumpkins, turnips, cauliflower, turmeric and chilies." - Azim Khan Ronnie
